Welcome to your first Newsletter of 2024. As most of you will know, last year, we celebrated our 30th Anniversary. We reached another milestone too when we hit £8 million loaned out, interest free to Pembrokeshire businesses. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of you, our valued players, so please accept our grateful thanks.
We’re well into a fresh new year now and the hard work has continued, with a new total of over £8.5 million loaned out and many more weekly £2,000 and Superdraw winners receiving that “We’ve got some good news for you!” phone call.
So read on for the news so far in 2024 and meet lots of new winners and loan recipients…
30th Anniversary £12,000 Superdraw
Let’s take a look back to our biggest prize winner ever. As you’ll remember, we increased all the Superdraw prizes for 2023 to celebrate our anniversary and to thank our players for their support over the years. The usual £10,000 draw at the end of the year was increased to £12,000. The draw was held on 6th December and the player who scooped the jackpot was Jennifer Brown from Milford Haven. Jennifer, pictured with her husband John, had been supporting us since 1994 so it was wonderful to see her win. And what would she do with her £12,000 winnings? When we met Jennifer said she hadn’t dared to even think about it until she knew it was real, but with Christmas just around the corner and grandchildren in the family, the first thing would be extra treats under the Christmas tree. We hope the win meant an extra special festive season for the Brown family and a very bright New Year!
Another £8,000 winner announced.
The Superdraw in March increases to a whopping £8,000 and the lucky winner was Mr Donald Evans from Crundale. Mr Evans, pictured here with Mrs Evans, told us there would be treats all round (and a visit to the dress shop for Mrs Evans!) This delightful couple have supported the Pembrokeshire Lottery for many years, so it was extra special to see them win.
More £4,000 Monthly Superdraw winners
We weren’t able to meet either of our £4,000 winners for January or February, but they were both very happy to get their winner’s phone calls! Congratulations to Mrs Yvonne Williams from Tenby who won £4,000 in January and Mr Lee Griffiths from Pembroke, who was our £4,000 winner in February.

Dale Sailing
Heidi Reynolds from Dale Sailing says “Dale Sailing are a local company, established over 60 years ago in the village of Dale. The operations base is now in Neyland and involves everything marine including building the DALE high class motor yachts, service and repair of both leisure and commercial vessels, boat storage in yards and on their dry stack facility, launching and recovering boats and the operation of a fleet of vessels for the leisure trips out to Skomer and the islands.
Moving vessels is a core and operation of the business, whether it be within the yards, to and from the yards/workshops for launching and lift out and within our workshops, themselves dependent on the work being undertaken, for example moving a vessel into the sprayshop. As part of the company strategic business plan, the investment in key assets identified that the replacement of the existing boatmover with a new machine was a vital step, not only to future proof operations of this pivotal company activity, but also to increase efficiency, enable a greater number of vessels to be stored and vastly improve the ability to manoeuvre vessels within the workshop spaces.
A boat mover is not an everyday item and there are a limited number of suppliers of machines such as these globally. Following a great deal of fact finding, we made contact with Boatlift, an Italian company whose machines can be seen operating widely in boatyards both in the UK and across Europe. With the securement of Business Development Grant funding from Pembrokeshire County Council, the company approached the Pembrokeshire Lottery to seek an interest free loan to assist with the purchase. The stringent application and panel meeting achieved a positive outcome and the company are incredibly grateful for the support provided by the Lottery to enable the company to place an order for a 20 tonne machine. The new boatmover is due for delivery and handover this summer and will be very much in operation from the word go and for many years to come.
