£4,000 Monthly Superdraw winners

Our first £4,000 winner this year was Mr David Thompson from Newgale, who won in January. We weren’t able to meet up with Mr Thompson to present the winners cheque in person, but he told us his win was the perfect way to start the new year!

February’s £4,000 winner was Tom Johnston from Broad Haven. Tom was no stranger to the Pembrokeshire Lottery as he was part of the team who received interest free funding from us when setting up their business InSite Technical Services eight years ago. It was great to see how the business has grown and the significant number of jobs created and we’re featuring Insite further on in this newsletter. As for his lucky win, Tom told us the windfall will make his upcoming holiday extra special!

April saw Janet Evans from Tenby also scooping a £4,000 prize. Janet owns the Myrtle House Hotel and is a past recipient of one of our interest free loans. She’s supported us by continuing to play the lottery ever since. So, what will she do with her winnings? Plough it all back into the hotel, but as a small treat for herself she plans to buy an apple tree to add to her allotment.

£10,000 March Superdraw

As we mentioned earlier, the three £8,000 Superdraws have been increased to £10,000 for our anniversary year and the lucky player who scooped the first of these in March was Amanda Harris from Haverfordwest. Amanda had was hoping to replace her car and was in the process of booking a holiday so she knew exactly what she would be doing with her windfall!

£8 millionth pound loaned out

Our 30th anniversary isn’t the only milestone we’ve reached this year. The total loaned out interest free, to over five hundred Pembrokeshire businesses recently hit £8 million and the loan that took us over the £8 million mark was to the Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company.
Since 2011, Jonathan Williams has utilised the Pembrokeshire Lottery interest free loan fund on three occasions for his businesses. Most recently, Cafe Môr has moved to a new and exciting location at The Old Point House, Angle with the Seaweed Boat, The Josie June now anchored on the site. Pembrokeshire Lottery Manager Abigail Owens said “Having started off as a sole trader, Johnathan now employs 15 people and this will increase over the Summer. This is a perfect example of what the Lottery was created for 30 years ago; working with Pembrokeshire businesses to create more jobs in our County. It is fitting that we reached the milestone of £8 million loaned out to over five hundred Pembrokeshire businesses with Jonathan’s latest loan and we wish him all the best with his new venture.”

A word from Pembrokeshire Beach Food owner, Jonathan Williams – “Pembrokeshire Lottery have been instrumental in helping me grow my business from the very beginning and I am grateful for their support. I even won £2,000 by playing the lottery and my prize money went towards funding the first ever batch of Barti Rum, so the Pembrokeshire Lottery really have been involved in every step in one way or another! The loan application process is very straightforward and I would urge anyone in Pembrokeshire who is looking to start or grow a business to get in touch with them and apply for an interest free loan.”

They operate both locally and internationally, supplying engineering design, project management, technical consultancy and support to a variety of clients and are active in the oil refining, LNG, nuclear and renewables sectors.
