Hello and welcome to your Spring / Summer 2017 Pembrokeshire Lottery Newsletter
Looking out of the window at the pouring rain, it doesn’t feel much like Summer yet, but it’s been a while since the last newsletter, so we thought we’d get in touch with your Spring / Summer edition!
As usual, our Investment Panel members have been busy with new applications for interest free loans and we’re grateful for their time and expertise. The total amount loaned out to Pembrokeshire businesses now exceeds £5.5million and this would not be possible without our Investment Panel.
Of course, none of this would be possible without you, our players. Your £1 a week is not only helping create more jobs in Pembrokeshire, it’s also giving you the chance to win £2,000 in the weekly draw and £8,000 or even £10,000 in the quarterly Superdraws!
Someone wins EVERY week with the Pembrokeshire Lottery!
Because every player has a unique lottery number, rather than a combination of numbers, there’s a guaranteed winner every week! Here’s just a few of our weekly £2,000 winners since your last newsletter.

Late September saw Anne Thomas from Llandissilio scoop the £2,000 prize. Anne was lovely lady and certainly deserved a treat. She had recently booked a holiday, so the money was ear marked as extra spending money. |

Alan and Myfanwy Lewis from Lamphey were winners in October. They were so surprised to receive the winners phone call and treated themselves to a holiday with their winnings. |
![]() |
October was also a lucky month for Wendy Nock from Moreton, Saundersfoot. She hadn’t quite got over the shock when we met, so hadn’t decided what to do with her windfall, but thought it would go towards making Christmas extra special! |
![]() |
Our first winner in November was Amada Absalom-Lowe from Haverfordwest. After a tough couple of years. The win came just at the right time for her. She also does a lot to help local charities too, so a well deserving winner. |
![]() |
Another winner in November was Allana Jones from Letterston. She was definite about what to spend her winnings on, extra presents and treats for her grandchildren at Christmas. We hope she treated herself too! |
![]() |
Pembrokeshire County Council kindly run a salary deduction scheme for us and this winner, Dylan Lawrence, plays through the scheme. Mr Lawrence is Deputy Head at Monkton Priory School. |
![]() |
Our first £2,000 winner in December was Islwyn Jones from Merlins Bridge. Of course, winning during December meant only one thing, an extra special Christmas for the Jones family! |
![]() |
Mid December saw a win for Mike Cole from Milford Haven. Mr Cole had played for a long time through a salary deduction scheme run by Price & Kelway Solicitors and he had continued to support us after he retired. Mike told us the money would fund a trip to Rome, accompanying his son as he presented his thesis on Cannon Law for his doctorate. |

Winning on 21st December meant an early Christmas present for Meryl Hancock from Haverfordwest. Meryl told us she was going to use her winnings towards a planned family trip to Lapland. |
![]() |
Pearl Thomas from Tenby saw the New Year in with a £2,000 win. Pearl was a lovely lady who had been supporting us for quite a while, so it was lovely to meet her and say thank you with a nice big cheque! |
![]() |
Another January winner was Mair Lewis from Fishguard. Mair and her husband had just moved house, so her winnings were to be spent on a new bathroom. |
![]() |
Our last January winner was Tara Panesar from Haverfordwest. Tara hadn’t decided what to spend the money on when we met, but with three young sons in the house, she didn’t think she’d have too much trouble! |
![]() |
Meet Simon Holt from Tenby, who was our first winner in February. Simon, who works at W.P. Lewis was off to New York on holiday and told us his win meant that a spending spree in the Big Apple was now a reality, rather than a dream! |
![]() |
Hywel Dda Health Board also run a salary deduction scheme for us and Lesley Griffiths, who works at Tenby Cottage Hospital, won through the scheme in February. Lesley told us she’d be treating the family to a holiday with her unexpected windfall. |
![]() |
John Hughes, from Milford Haven only lives up the road from the Pembrokeshire Lottery office, so was down in a flash to collect his cheque when we called him to say he’d won. As it all happened so quickly, he hadn’t had time to think about what he’d spend it on, but we hope he treated himself to something nice! |
![]() |
February also saw a win for Ruth Francis. Ruth, from Pembroke, is a member of the Country Market Collective there and we met her at the Town Hall on market day. |
![]() |
March was lucky for Richard Scalisi from Haverfordwest. He was in New York at a family wedding when he won, so we caught up with him the week after at County Hall, where he works. With £2,000 he can book a return trip now! |

Another March winner was John Mathews from Milford Haven. John is Caretaker at Milford Haven School and plays through the Pembrokeshire County Council salary deduction scheme. |

Our latest March winner was Jonathan Williams from Pembroke. |

£10,000 Christmas Superdraw winner
![]() ![]() |
The 2016 Christmas Superdraw was held on Wednesday 7th December. The lucky winner was Sarah Das, formerly of Narberth. The draw was aired live on 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire but presenter Chris Blumer wasn’t able to get through to her on the telephone to break the happy news. However, we got hold of her later that day and learned that her work had taken her out of the area. Mrs Das’ mother still lives in Narberth though and was very happy to accept the cheque on her daughters’ behalf. Sarah told us that the win would bring her one step nearer to her dream of returning home to Wales. |
£8,000 Spring Superdraw winner
Our Spring Superdraw was held on Wednesday 8th March and the lucky winners were Ronald and Sheila Sampson. Mr and Mrs Sampson live in East Grinstead, but spend a month in St Davids every year. They told us they joined the Pembrokeshire Lottery some time ago as they love Pembrokeshire and wanted to do something to help support the County. We’ll be catching up with them for a photograph when they visit again next month. |
Dates for you diary...

Someone wins £2,000 EVERY week with the Pembrokeshire Lottery, but 4 times a year, the usual weekly prize increases when we hold a Superdraw. The Summer Superdraw, with a fantastic prize of £8,000 will be on Wednesday 7th June.

Where your £ a week goes ...
Your lottery pounds go into our loan fund. Local businesses can apply for interest free loans from this fund, which helps create more jobs in Pembrokeshire. Here’s just a few of our recent loan recipients.
Noahs Ark Childcare
Noahs Ark nursery in Narberth received funding to carry out alterations and improvements to the interior of their building to make more use of the internal space. This is their second loan after establishing the business in 2009.
Pro Nails
A word from Pro Nails owner, Lisa Williams “ProNails were lucky to secure a Pembrokeshire Lottery loan in November 2106. The loan was used to help build a dedicated Training and Distribution Centre for ProNails and also created a Marketing & Sales position. This loan has helped greatly in moving the business forward to a new level, so thank you Pembrokeshire Lottery for all your support!”
ETTS Ltd.
Owner Ian Butherway says “a long established (1953) Pembrokeshire business, we are now about to embark on our next stage of expansion. Following the recession of 2008 we revamped the business in 2010 and now specialise in Electrical Testing, Petrol Filling Station, hazardous work area and high level lighting. This year, we will be looking for one more qualified electrician and hope to take on an apprentice. Funding from the Pembrokeshire Lottery enabled us to increase our fleet of vehicles.”
